Situation
Character. Scholarship. Leadership. They could add one more word to the governing principles at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Growth
The private school is in the midst of a major growing (and building) phase on its home 163-acre campus in Marion, Ind. Three new residential buildings and a three-story administrative-academic building have opened in the past year. Other projects now underway include a student center expansion, a new athletic complex, a new academic building, and even more residential housing.

Solution
Now as never before in its history, Indiana Wesleyan needs a way-finding systems that get students and campus visitors where they need to go. Its entire wayfinding-signage project will involve up to 50 signs. To get the job done right, Wesleyan chose Innerface. Innerface exterior designers worked to create signs that get incoming vehicles to the right parking zone, and on-campus pedestrians to the right buildings.

Sign Needs

• Post and panel exterior wayfinding
• Vehicular, pedestrian
• Post and panel campus maps/building directories
• Ground-mounted monument building signs

Process
At Indian Wesleyan, different administrators and campus stakeholders sign-off on big projects. Innerface is experienced in navigating even the most complex project approval chains. Our designers gave Wesleyan administrators multiple designs and design prototypes. And each design family featured variations for each sign category (e.g., street-vehicular, pedestrian, campus directory). For signage cohesiveness, uniformity is key. But variability gives the customers options.

Flexibility
One of the guiding design principles for Innerface is flexibility. If the use of the building changes at Indiana Wesleyan, a new campus map from Innerface can change with it. Double-post ground-mounted maps have slats that can be replaced by the university’s in-house graphics departments.
